Well, here goes the studying. Starting today, I am officially dedicating most of my waking hours to memorizing the law and doing practice exams. California Bar Exam July 2011...here I come!
I will do this thing! I will put in the effort daily to do what must be done in order to pass this exam and get my license. And I will be eating healthy and exercising every day to keep my mind and body healthy and focused.
Summer has already been great with my little guy (including bike rides, Hawaii, LA zoo, the Arboretum, park time, fun dinner nights out, family grill dinners in, and lots of other stuff). And we will have more fun times ahead.
He is the most important thing in my world. And second is this exam.
So, here we go! Project Summer Bar Exam 2011 :)
Glass Slippers
Protecting the dream...
*Newsflash* Cinderella has just fit the glass slipper that changed her world!! And she got her happy ending. In the real world, I am striving for the glass slippers that will change my life (And no, I don't mean that I am looking for a prince. Although I will take the castle!)
By having and accomplishing goals, I am working to change my world for the better. Accomplishing goals are the 'glass' that change and improve my life, and hopefully the lives of those around me. They are my glass slippers. Just as the glass slippers were for Cinderella, goals are very personal. But once we get them to fit, they are the glass that change our lives.

Happy Easter!
I hope to start posting soon - pictures, stories of our life, missions accomplished, goals to be attained. But in the meantime, I'm loving life, family, friends, and opportunities that have been surrounding me lately.
So to everyone...Happy Easter!
Enjoy your family and weekend :)

It's over!
I am SO excited to be back to my "real" life! I've spent the last few weeks studying for the bar exam. The only other role and title I kept was as a mom. Other than that, every other role and responsibility was either cut out completely or pushed far down the priority list.
Anyway, I'm glad the exam is over and so glad to be back!
I went out this weekend and took this picture of the fancy dessert bar, "dessertatorium":
It was so much fun to go out after 3 straight days of testing!
My goals (the ones that I post about) for this week are as follows:
Healthy Happiness
This is huge for me this week. I have not been running, or eating healthy for the last few weeks and need to get back on track. This week I will be running 3 times, 1 yoga class, and 1 Latin dance class. And increasing my water intake by at least 3 glasses a day.
Mom Missions
To be back and present in every moment with my little guy. These weeks of studying resulted in me not being mentally there all the time for him. So, this week I have planned a family run for us to do together and a board game night. I can't wait!
Lawyer Limits
To start out the month of March strong - and that means sticking to my daily goals at work, and not falling behind.
Academic Ambitions
To have my little guy finish his chapter book so we can start Harry Potter on our trip in March. Also, to get some books to learn about New York.
Lady of the House
To do some drawer and clothes organization, which has been neglected while I was studying. Also, to schedule our family Easter pictures!
I hope you had a great February!

I'm doing it!
It has been raining a lot here in Southern California (well, a lot for us, anyway)! So I thought I'd share a picture of my new bubble gum pink rain boots that I got this weekend:
Yep, it's the little things in life that make us happy, right? I mean, cheerful pink rain boots when it's gloomy and pouring outside! Who wouldn't want them? :)
The other thing that I am SO excited about is getting back to my "normal" life after this week. But a lot has to happen over the next few days first...
For the past few weeks, other than family responsibilities and obligations, I have been studying and practicing for the CA bar exam that takes place this week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
It has taken a lot of effort and personal growth to do what I have been doing for the past few weeks and to keep focus. I am proud of what I have accomplished, specifically with regards to studying and this test. In the past, I have given up and hardly studied. Also in the past, I have only attended 1 day of the exam and decided not to go back and finish. So, for me to stick to the books and then to take and complete the exam this week will be huge. I will not give up this time.
The personal sacrifice was also challenging. I have spent minimal time with my family, virtually no time running, and pretty much no social life. There are a lot of physical consequences due to the exam training that I have been doing. But I don't want to focus on the negative, just looking forward to this week and the adventures that await me over the next 5 days.
I saw a Nike shirt last night that pretty much sums up how I feel about this exam. It says:
I'm doing it!
I love that. So I bought it. And I will wear it to day 2 of the exam :)
Have a great week!

February and my GOAL for this Month
I **heart** February. Seriously, pink is my favorite color and I love glitter and hearts and all of the Valentine's Day fun that comes with February. I celebrate it for the entire month. Honestly.
Seeing as today is February 1, I thought I would check in and let you know that I really only have 1 goal this month and I am diligently working toward it. On February 22, 23 and 24 I will be taking my exam to obtain my license to practice here in CA (the CA bar exam).
Hence the reason for my lack of posts lately.
Most of my life is focused on study and practice for the upcoming exam. Sure, there are other things going on as life continues on, with or without my studying.
My little guy is in full swing playing basketball so we have practices and games throughout the week. And then there are family obligations, my daily runs, friends in need, and a little (very little) fun scattered in there :)
I am so glad that I have been so rigid these past 2 years with making and sticking to my monthly and weekly goals (in my REAL life, as opposed to this "study" life). It is helping me tremendously to focus on studying right now.
I do have my weekly goals for study, they are just too boring to post about. For example "do 30 multiple choice questions on criminal law every day." See? I wouldn't want to bore you or myself by posting about them :) But I keep them in my calendar and I have a separate checklist in my purse.
One goal for this week is that I will be trying to get in a few longer runs throughout the week.
In the interim, I am enjoying reading all of your blogs and seeing your most recent accomplishments! I can't wait to develop my training plan and figure out my next race!
Happy February!!
PS - I will try to post at least a few pictures here and there of some of the non-study parts of life these next few days. One of my most recent activities that I am absolutely enjoying is Latin Dance class once a week. It is hilarious to watch me in class, but I love the focus it takes and how nothing else matters for that 1 hour except how you move! :)
